My name is Carmen Zaldana and I am the School Operations Manager at Alliance Tennenbaum Tech.  I would like to share a story about my first year in college.

 

During my first year of college I had a part time job as a TA at my former elementary school.  In my head I was making a decent amount of money for an 18 year old.  Unfortunately at that time I valued money over education. Needles to say my grades reflected my mindset. I was placed on academic probation and was informed that if my grades did not improve I would not be allowed to return the following quarter. I had never received bad grades.  I even broke out in hives when I received that letter. I knew I could not let this continue.  I asked for a reduction in my hours at work and took advantage of office hours and other support systems offered at my college. I managed to get myself back to straight As the following quarter.  I knew that I needed to focus on what was really important which was my education.
